Client Information

The decision to enter into a therapeutic relationship with a mental health professional is a significant personal decision.  One of the most important aspects of therapy is the “therapeutic fit.”  Therapeutic fit is important for both the therapist and the client.  As a client, you want to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with to share the most intimate parts of your life.  Additionally, you want to find a therapist whose therapeutic style matches your personality.  As a therapist, I want to ensure that I work with clients that are in the realm of my competencies (e.g. I don’t accept children as clients because I do not have in-depth child psychotherapy experience) and that I believe that I can help.

Therefore, I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation appointment (either via phone or in person).  The purpose of this consultation is for me to learn about you, why you are seeking therapy, and what you hope to accomplish in therapy.  This appointment also provides you with the opportunity to evaluate me and determine whether you will feel safe and comfortable with me as your therapist.

If we choose to work together, we will schedule regular weekly or biweekly 50-minute appointments.  Referrals to other services may be made based on your needs.  Please bring the following paperwork to our first regular session so that we may review it together:

Appointment Availability

  • Weeknights: 6 pm – 9 pm

Rates

  • Individual Therapy: $120.00 per 60-minute session
    • Longer sessions are available, with additional fees discussed on a per client basis
  • Group Therapy: TBA per person, per 90-minute session
    • FYI: I am currently not running any groups at this time.
  • Couples Therapy: $135.00 per 60-minute session
    • Longer session are available, with additional fees discussed on a per couple basis

Reduced Fee Services

There are a limited number of individual therapy spots for clients who are in need of therapeutic services, but are unable to afford the full fee.  Please contact me to discuss your situation.

Payment

Full payment is due prior to the commencement of each session.  Por Vida Counseling accepts cash, check/money order, and all major credit cards.  Your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) can be used to pay for your sessions.

A $35 returned check fee + the session fee will be charged for all returned checks.  Any returned checks will result in payment via guaranteed funds (cash/money orders/certified checks) for all future sessions.

At the present time, I am not a credentialed provider on any insurance panel.  Therefore,  I only accept private pay clients at this time.  I am willing to provide receipts that you may use for out of network reimbursement or itemized deductions for income tax purposes.  I do intend to become credentialed with some insurance providers (United Health Care, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas) in the future.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please cancel your appointment via phone or email at least 24 hours in advance.  Late cancellations and no call/no show missed appointments will be billed the full cost of the appointment.  Arriving more than 15 minutes late to session without notice will be considered a no call/no show missed appointment and will be billed the full cost of the appointment.  Regular late cancellations and missed appointments will be subject to termination of therapy at the therapist’s discretion.
